The department of Pando is located in the northern part of the country and is the only department in Bolivia that is 100% Amazonian. This tropical region is home to three little known ethnic groups: the Pacaguaras, the Chamas and the Toromonas.
The department is covered with immense forests and a rich bio-diversity of plants and animals. The Pando has several large rivers including the Madre de Dios, the Beni and the Orthon all of which are an important source for fishing and transportation in the Amazon basin.
